Facebook has announced the few aspects which every business profile owner and facebook page owner should know and act upon before 23rd August, 2010!

Here are the quick glimpse of the updates facebook has announced to implement from 23rd August, 2010

1) Boxes

Facebook will be eliminating boxes from profile & facebook pages completely.
Facebook will notify the users via messaging in profile boxes and their help centers about the same.

Who can be badly affected with this?

If your facebook application or Page visits are really depends upon the clicks of your application boxes from Profile boxes tab then you need to act fast to convert your users to bookmark your facebook application so that you do not loose their visits (hits).

2) Application Tabs content width

Application tabs layout width will be confirmed to reduced by 520px on facebook pages.

Who can be badly affected with this?

This is a serious issue for millions of pages on Facebook. Majority of the brands holding their facebook page with a wider layout. Majority of the welcome tabs on facebook pages who are custom designed are wider than 520px.
So, when your users will visit your pages after 23rd August, 2010 then your Facebook Page layouts will be cluttered to 520 pxs. That means your images and content will not look as good as it look on the earlier layout of 730 to 760px wider.

Google analytics is one of the most important tracking tools freely available for websites, portals, applications, blogs and forums. It is equally useful even for Facebook Apps as well!

Facebook App without any monitoring of your traffic, pageviews, bouncerate and other demographic information doesn’t really help to anyone to propel the growth of an application.

So, how can you add Google Analytics code into your Facebook Application and start tracking?

Well its very easy and simple 2 steps process,

Step 1: Create a website profile in Google Analytics.

Note that you need to create a profile for your facebook application and not for the domain on which your app is actually hosted.

So, create a profile for apps.facebook.com/YourAppName

Step 2: Now, add a FMBL tag provided by Facebook for Google analytics on your canvas page. Just like this,

Replace 99999 with your Google Analytics code.

That is all and you are done.

Now, wait for some time to propogate your change on Facebook since it may take some time to get stats into your Google Analytics account.
